Carnlough, in the Glens of Antrim, County Antrim, Northern Ireland is a tiny little town with a charming harbour. Most of the town, including the marina, are made of local white limestone and fairly glow in the summer sun. I love the peaceful stillness portrayed in the reflections of the boats. As I’ve said before, I rarely see the sunrise but on this August morning I happened to see the predawn mist rising. I’ve photographed this particular tree hundreds of times here in Moynalty, County Meath but have never seen the hydrangeas appear so brilliantly colored.

The Giant’s Causeway in County Antrim, Ireland, is a place of myth and mystery. It’s said that the legendary Finn McCool built the causeway to Scotland to challenge a rival. And, indeed, these formations are also found off the coast of Scotland and submerged along a direct route from one island to the other. The over 40,000 interlocking columns (in Ireland) are a UNESCO World Heritage site. A giant’s walkway or a 60 million year old volcanic legacy? You decide. Glenanchiquin Park is a little hard to find. Located on the Beara Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland, you travel 5 miles down a narrow, winding, dirt road and it takes about 20 minutes! The waterfalls are stunning, especially after heavy rain. There a several walking trails taking from 40 minutes to 7 hours. Click on photo to enlarge.
